Roads
The rugged nature of the Escalante Basin is a major obstacle to vehicular traffic. There is only one paved road (Highway 12) and it is the only road that crosses the Escalante River. However, there are several good fair weather dirt and gravel roads in the area that can be driven with any good clearance 2wd vehicle. All roads lead to great scenery !
